Eurobattery Minerals files environmental permit application for Hautalampi project in Finland

Eurobattery Minerals AB, listed on the Swedish Nordic Growth Market (BAT) and the German Börse Stuttgart (EBM), has reached a significant milestone in its Hautalampi battery mineral mine project in Finland. The company announced the submission of its environmental permit application to the Finnish Regional State Administrative Agency (Aluehallintovirasto, or AVI).

CEO Roberto García Martínez expressed the importance of this step, stating, “Submitting the application for the environmental permit is a critical milestone for Eurobattery Minerals, marking a major stride towards mining operations in Finland.” He emphasized the economic potential of the cobalt, nickel, and copper mine, highlighting its role in enhancing Europe’s self-sufficiency in responsibly mined battery minerals.

The comprehensive environmental permit application covers all necessary aspects for initiating and operating the mine. It encompasses underground mining operations, crushing operations, production of metal concentrates, discharge treatment, waste management, mine backfilling, and environmental protection measures in compliance with Finnish regulations.

Martínez expressed optimism about the permit process, stating, “We look forward to working closely with Finnish authorities to ensure a smooth and efficient environmental permit process and anticipate a positive outcome.” Meanwhile, the company will continue its strategic initiatives, including finalizing the acquisition of FinnCobalt Oy, advancing detailed engineering plans, and pursuing off-take and equipment agreements as part of the bankable feasibility study.

The Hautalampi Battery Mineral Project, located in the Outokumpu Mining Camp Area, holds immense potential due to its proximity to established mining infrastructure and strong local support. With its strategic position in the growing EV battery manufacturing market in northern Europe, the project aims to contribute to Europe’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions.

Eurobattery Minerals envisions becoming a key player in Europe’s battery mineral supply chain, supporting the continent’s drive towards self-sufficiency in critical raw materials for clean energy technologies.
