InoBat begins pilot battery production in Slovakia

InoBat has embarked on significant expansions in Slovakia’s battery cell production sector. They have initiated production at a pilot line located in Voderady, Slovakia, which commenced operations at the end of 2023. This pilot line has the capability to produce up to 50,000 cells annually and utilizes production equipment sourced from Wuxi Lead, a Chinese company. The production process spans from the creation of anode and cathode mixtures to the final formation of battery cells, encompassing a total of 35 machines.

In addition to the pilot line, InoBat is planning a substantial expansion by partnering with Gotion High-Tech, a Chinese battery manufacturer. Together, they intend to establish a large-scale battery cell factory in Ĺ urany, situated in southern Slovakia. The planned factory aims to achieve an initial annual production capacity of 20 gigawatt-hours, with provisions for doubling this capacity in the future. Construction of the factory is slated to commence in 2024, with operations expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026 and full series production anticipated by 2027.

This ambitious project is bolstered by support from the Slovakian government, which is providing subsidies and has allocated a 65-hectare site for the factory. This strategic partnership and expansion signify InoBat’s commitment to enhancing Europe’s capacity in battery cell production, thereby supporting the region’s goals for sustainable energy solutions and electric vehicle manufacturing.
