Galantas Gold Corporation successfully completes trial stoping program at Cavanacaw gold mine in Northern Ireland

Galantas Gold Corporation, a Canadian-listed company, has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of its trial stoping program at the Cavanacaw Gold Mine within the Omagh Project, located in County Tyrone. This marks a pivotal step as the company aims to expand its operations and increase gold production and resources at the Omagh Project.

Previously explored using open-pit methods, the Cavanacaw mine is now being transitioned towards underground mining to access deeper ore deposits. Mario Stifano, CEO of Galantas, emphasized the success of the trial, stating, “The trial has provided valuable insights into the mine development process, confirming that the Cavanacaw Mine can be effectively mined using a longhole mining method with backfilling.”

The trial stoping program involved the successful mining and backfilling of six stopes using a narrow vein, modified Avoca longhole open stoping method across two separate blocks. In total, 3,175 tonnes of mineralised material were extracted during this phase.

Financially, provisional revenues from concentrate sales reached approximately $1.1 million in 2023 and approximately $207,000 in the first quarter of 2024. These revenues are being used to offset development costs until the mine achieves commercial production.

Galantas Gold Corporation remains focused on advancing its mining operations and enhancing production capabilities, aiming to further capitalize on the potential of the Omagh Project and its broader exploration initiatives, including the Kerry Road gold-bearing VMS deposit at the Gairloch Project in Scotland.
